Day by day trip itinerary

DAY 01 Arrival in Delhi

On arrival our representative will receive and check you to your hotel.

DAY 02 Fly to Bagdogra & Drive to Darjeeling

After Breakfast you will be transferred to the Indira Gandhi Domestic Airport for your flight to Bagdogra. The flight duration is about 2 hrs. You will be received by our representative. You will be driven to Darjeeling through beautiful tea gardens. The cool breeze will signal your entry to Darjeeling. You check into your hotel after reaching Darjeeling.

DAY 03 Darjeeling.

The Queen of hills is the name given to Darjeeling by the British who made it their summer capital of the East India. Darjeeling is the ‘Queen’ to all its grandeur. The view of the Himalayan range from the mall road with Mount Kanchanjunga standing tall. You will visit the Himalayan Zoological Park and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The first director of this Institute was Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, the first man to climb Mount Everest. There is a natural history museum which is worth a visit. The Snow leopard breeding center in the Himalayan Zoological Park is unique to its kind because it is the only successful breeding center for snow leopards in captivity. You will drive downhill to visit the beautiful tea plantations. In the evening you will get to walk around the market and the “Chowrasta” which is a special place in Darjeeling. The local people of Darjeeling will give you a feel of the Himalayan lore.

DAY 04 Gangtok (5 Hrs)

After breakfast you will drive toward Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. You will drive downhill through the Peshok tea plantation and it is a wonderful view as you can see Kalimpong on the other side of the hill and Namchi n the other . After a steep descent you will then drive parallel to the river Teesta. The view of the valleys during the drive is relaxing. You will reach Rangpo the point you enter Sikkim. You drive till Singtam, another town from where you start to drive uphill until you reach Gangtok. You check in to your hotel for rest.

DAY 05 Lachen (110kms, 6 Hrs), trek begins

You will drive to Lachen in the morning. Lachen is a small bhotia village. You will drive through Mangan, the capital of North Sikkim. On the way you will see unexploited beautiful hills and countryside. The Altitude of Lachen is 2730 meters above sea level. On the way you drive over a bridge which is 500 meters above the river and it is called Bolshoi bridge. You will camp near the village. Staff  and the peters for the trek are briefed and organised.

DAY 06 Tallem (3240 m) 6 Hrs

After breakfast you will walk on the road till you reach Zeema. You will cross the bridge over the point where the two rivers Zemu Chu and Thang Chu merges. You will the trek on the trail westward alongside the river banks of Zemu Chu. You will trek till junction of River Zemu Chu and Lhonak Chu, you will camp for the night here. The camp is located in midst of the beautiful forest.

DAY 07 Jakthang (3450 m) 5 Hrs

After breakfast you will continue your trek alongside river Zemu Chu. You will start ascending after you cross the river Lhonak Chu. While you walk downhill you will pass through the beautiful green forest. You will walk trek till Jakthang and cam by the river side.

DAY 08 Yabuk (4050 M) 6 Hrs

You will start your days trek after breakfast. The trek will be uphill through the froest and you will cross the bridge above the river Thombak Chu. The trail will lead you towards the Thieu La (pass) and Muguthang , onwards is the Lhonal village. You will reach Yabuk after trekking through rough and difficult trails as the rains sometimes do wash away the original trial. You trek uphill for about an hour before reaching Yabuk where you camp. Yabuk is chilly and  breezy compared to the sites you have camped.

DAY 09 Yabuk (Rest)

Acclimatization is very important when you trek in the mountains. You will relax and have a light

DAY 10 Rest camp : Yabuk (4735 M) 6 Hrs

You will start your trek after breakfast. You will walk slow as the altitude will have effects on trekkers. You will trek on the trail that will lead you to the moraines of the Zemu glacier. Further on you will get the view of Mount Kanchanjunga. You then reach your rest camp and retire for the day. You might get to see Bharal (blue sheep) on the hill opposite to your rest camp. Snow leopards have been spotted occasionally that side of the hill.

DAY 11 Rimbik Green Lake (4950 m) 4 Hrs

You have a short distance to cover today however the altitude does have the slowing effect so you trek slow and steady. You will reach open valley with spectacular view to ease you on the way. Before you retire for the day you will trek up the valley through the moraine and wide valley. The rest camp is in the wide valley.

DAY 12 At Green lake (4950m)

You will walk further up towards the place where the camp is normally based for mountain expeditions. You can see Goechala to the south from Zemu gap. Few miles across the Zemu glacier stands the stunning Mount Siniolchu. The peak of the Mountain stands tall amongst all the peaks in the Everest area in Nepal. The base for mountain expedition in this area is Green Lake. The water in the lake is all drained out and its now a dry basin. Few miles away from Green Lake you will see the mighty Mount Kanchanjunga. You can also see Mount Simvo in a short distance. The view from the dry basin of Green Lake is a reward in its kind for your effort.

DAY 13 Yabuk. 5 Hrs

You will trek back to Lachen, Yabuk being the first camp where you halt overnignt during the descent.

DAY 14 Jakthang

After breakfast you trek down towards the valley. The descent will be sharp in the initial stages however as the distance is covered the slope becomes gradual as you near river Zemu Chu.  You will camp at Jakthang.

DAY 15 Tallem

You will trek to Tallem today and the descent will be relatively effortless as you drop down to lower altitude. You will camp at Tallem in the forest cover.

DAY 16 Lachen

You will trek to Lachen enroute Zeema. You will walk alongside river Zemu Chu to the road that connects to Zeema. On the way to Lachen you  will have views which are very beautiful  and will ease you on . After you reach Lachen, you rest and at night celebration  your last night of the trek with the trekking staff.

DAY 17 Gangtok 6 Hrs

After breakfast you will drive down to Gangtok. After reaching Gangtok you can visit Cottage Industry where you can take souviners for your trip. In the evening you can explore the local market

DAY 18 Kalimpong 3 Hrs

You will drive to Kalimpong today. You will visit Rumtek Monastery on the way. Its an important Monastery for the  Kargya pa Buddhist sect. The Guru Rimpoche built this monastery after he escaped from Tibet in 1959. The original monastery was destroyed by an earthquake .The monastery was rebuilt which was the then later rebuilt in 1960’s. You will then head towards Kalimpong which was once the  summer capital of the Kingdom of Bhutan later annexed by the British India. Kalimpong was another major trading hub for Tibet and India in ancient times.

DAY 19 Bagdogra, Departure to Delhi

You will drive to Bagdogra. The road is alongside the river Teesta and green forests of the Indian plains. You will depart from Bagdogra. Our representative will receive and check you to your hotel.

DAY 20 Delhi

You will be transferred to the Airport by our representative . The trip concludes.
